This picturesque roadhouse was opened in 1932 on the shores of Middle Spunk Lake by former major league baseball player George “Showboat” Fisher. Located north of St. Cloud, Fisher’s Club is seasonal, opening around Memorial Day and generally closing in early October.
Old timers debate if Fisher’s is a supper club or a bottle club.
Guests bring in their own bottles of liquor for set ups and regulars have their own hooch lockers, made out of Douglas fir. Fisher’s has a large group of investors, including author Garrison Keillor, and the club is in a state of transition during the summer of 2013. Call ahead. Fisher’s will be back either by late summer or in 2014.
